Glitter Christmas Animals

This is an old project, it was made for a challenge at craftster in November. I have to try and upload stuff quicker to my blog, just in case my PC decides to die, it shouldn't because it's almost new but who knows.

The challenge was to make something out of paper, and there was three different templates to use, I chose the animals.

- First I had to blow up the small animals, print them out and cut them out in cardboard.
- Decoupage on all the paper, it was all gift wrapping paper.
- Then I used glitter glue and added the sparkling effect to the animals
- Some of the animals have a little lace and a button decorating them even further

And here are my beloved big animals:

Octopus: It's 26 cm (10.2") tall and 44 cm (17.3") wide

Giraffe: It's 48 cm (18.9") tall and 11 cm (4.3") wide

Koala: It's 19 cm (7.5") tall and 15 cm (5.9") wide

Elephant: It's 33 cm (13") wide and 28 cm (11") tall

Squirrel: It's 22 cm (8.7") wide and 18 cm (7.1") tall

November challenge

Native American owl pendant

I should write on this blog more often, if not for others then at least for myself, because I love to document things I do and make.

So here is the November challenge at christynelson.net, this month we had felt, rocks, magnets and paint.

After spending more than half the time trying to find out what to make I decided on a pendant or ornament thing inspired by Native Americans.

The big circle is embroidery, first time I tried it. Note to myself; never try it on felt, ever again. The image is an owl, which I think is pretty cool, and difficult to embroider.

The stones were different crotchet techniques, I suck at crotchet but luckily that doesn’t show much with metal. The black circle is a magnet, with metal wire wrapped around it and paint.

And then I added a feather at the bottom.

I really like how it turned out,  especially the stones. If I knew it would be so difficult the owl I would have made it different, but I like that one as well, for my first attempt. 

Here is the owl as it was when I first found it, more amazing than my crooked one :P

September challenge

The September challenge package from Christy Nelson arrived quite early, and I was excited to get started. I finished the challenge for September quite quickly, strangely enough, but still I was stressing towards the end of the month, only because I was so slow at taking a picture.

For September we had blue netting, white elastic, green yarn, colorful fabric circles, and silver brads to use, I was inspired at once. I wanted to make a bib necklace for a long time, but never had inspiration, or the supplies to make one, this time I had no excuse.

Luckily for me I bought a bunch of buttons a short while ago, that had arrived a few days before the package from Christy arrived, so the green, black and yellow dots on the necklace are buttons. I tried my best to make different flowers because I wanted it to be filled with different and fun shapes, next time I'm making a bib necklace I'll link to different tutorials I have found.

I like the necklace, it's colourful and fun, but I wouldn't wear it outside, mostly because the quality of the necklace is poor.

June challenge

For the June challenge at Christy Nelson's monthly challenges we had glitter paper, pill bottle, clay, raffia and favour cup to use. When I received the package I had no idea what to do with it, until I got the idea to make a necklace.
After gluing together the raffia I began to make a macramé necklace, adding the favour cup bow, glitter paper rose and clay beads with melted plastic. This is what I ended up with:

It was OK, but I didn't like it. So I almost ripped it apart to begin again.
This time I used some extra thread, since it was almost impossible to reuse all the raffia from before. I also had to make smaller beads, since the first ones was a bit too big for a bracelet. When I was done braiding the thread with the beads and added the rose and turned the paper bow into leafs. I then sew on the lace and ribbon and it was done. I really like it, and will probably try to make another one with different material later.

May challenge

I joined Christy Nelson's monthly challenges, where we will receive one package every month with surprise supplies and we have one month to create something. Because of the destiny my package is travelling and the Constitutional day I had less than a week to complete the craft.


But I succeeded, and here is what I have.

This month we had leather straps, mirrors, floral wire, wreath and styrofoam beads.
I made flowers out of the wire, glued the leather strap around one of the mirrors and attached it to the wreath, I also used the leather to make centres to the flowers. And then I placed the styrofoam beads in the oven and shrank them until some were big and other are tiny, and then I glued them to the wreath. To finish it I stuck a flower stick into it and added a green bow. The whole piece is now decorating the pot with the small plant.

This is my first time trying anything like this, but I like it, it's cute.
